Cedar Cottage in East Van

Does anyone know where the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood of East Vancouver got its name from? Clearly there was a cedar cottage there at some point, but it must have been pretty significant in order to have an area of Vancouver named after it.

Athlete's Village and Low-Income Housing

I may have made this up, but I thought I'd heard that after the Olympics, 66% of the athlete's village on the southeast end of False Creek was going to be converted to low-income housing. Can anybody verify this?
