Where's the best Greek food in Vancouver?

I'm not interested in Stepho's as an answer, because I hate lining up for my food. :)

I know it's in Richmond and

I know it's in Richmond and not Vancouver, but my wife and her co-workers swear by Mad Greek on Westminster Highway near Number 3. Apparently it has good portions for cheap.

I don't know from personal

I don't know from personal experience, but I've heard good things about the greek place that's essentially across the street (and west a little) from people who saw the line and said "Yeah, right" but were still in the mood for greek. :)

Beyond that... there's a place on Marine Drive in White Rock that is wonderful. However, being that it's in White Rock, this doesn't help us Vancouverites all that much.

I think Arwenoid means

I think Arwenoid means Characters, at Thurlow & Davie. But the local favourite is Taki's, practically next door to Stepho's. You don't have to wait and the quality's a bit better, although prices are slightly higher. I also don't mind Olympia on Denman.

Have you tried Opa? I go to

Have you tried Opa? I go to the one at Park Royal for lunch sometimes, and I think there's one downtown near Burrard and Dunsmuir. It's like a mall fast food place, but it's so fresh and yummy. Actually, I had it for lunch yesterday AND today. And it made me go out and get more greek food last night. Mmmmmmmm, OPA!

Yes there's an Opa in

Yes there's an Opa in Bentall Centre at Burrard & Dunsmuir. Their fries are amazing too. I think they put lemon juice and some sort of spices on there - yum.

Opa is also in Yaletown on

Opa is also in Yaletown on Davie at Homer St.

I'm rather partial to

I'm rather partial to Sympatico on 4th, but it's been a long time since I've been there.

I also have a weak spot for George's Taverna in Steveston, although how good the experience is there seems to depend on the day.

I have a few greek friends I could ask. =)

Dallas Slouvalia on

Dallas Slouvalia on Commercial & 5th is good. I tried the lamb chops & the prawns there - both yummy, huge & cheap. They have a lunch special, think it's less 25% from 11-3pm during the week.

Yum!

There are only runner ups to

There are only runner ups to the crown for Best Greek food in the lower mainland.

George's Taverna in Steveston has no equal. The guy who runs it is a master chef with a heart of gold.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Check out Taverna Gorgona in

Check out Taverna Gorgona in Ladner. Great garden setting, good food, and free desert. The prices are reasonable too. My wife and I hope to make it one of our favourite places to go.

There's a new greek

There's a new greek restaurant in New Westminister called Opa Taverna. Awesome food in a quiet neighbourhood. It's by the new Wal Mart complex on the Richmond Side of the bridge. Kinda in the middle of nowhere but great food.

There's a reallt great greek

There's a reallt great greek restaurant called Kerkis. I can't remember the location though, but i'll post again when I remember.

The best Greek I've ever had

The best Greek I've ever had is at Ouzerie Restaurant, 3189 West Broadway. The food is high-quality and it tastes fantastic.

I tried Candia Taverna

I tried Candia Taverna recently... the food is great, the portions are pretty big and it's not too expensive either! It's 4150 West 10th Avenue. Opens 4pm-12am 7 days a week.
I had a great meal there...try it out :) And what's better there are no queues...in fact it was pretty quiet.

George's Taverna 130 - 3760

George's Taverna 130 - 3760 Moncton Street Richmond, British Columbia, Canada (604) 275-5502.

I can not say it is the best but I can say the owner "george" is a very good cook and a friendly man who makes some pretty good food. I can honestly say that you will not be dissapionted that you chose georges to dine at or out.

I just did an internet search for the tel number to call for a pick up and saw this site. chicken pita wrap and fries awesome. ask for med sauce.

I went there last night with

I went there last night with a group of people, and it was bad.
The food was bad (my beef souvlaki was burnt), and the service was the worst I have ever experienced.

Never go here with a big group.

The search continues. Last

The search continues.

Last night I did a search for best Greek in Vancouver and came upon this site. I decide to give George's Taverna a shot, so I called up a friend and went. I was disappointed; I ordered the beef souvlaki which should be a staple dish at any Greek restaurant and it fell well short of expectations. They used a poor selection cut of the beef which resulted in a very chewy meal. My friends lamb souvlaki was better, but she disliked the rice and taziki. It has a quaint ambiance, but that's about it. I wouldn't go back.

Takis Taverna on Davie st downtown Vancouver is still one of the memorable places for good Greek.
